Maria is a registered specialist in Periodontics and honorary Clinical Lecturer at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute. She graduated as a Dental Surgeon from the University Of Athens Dental School in 1999 and obtained her Master of Science degree in Oral Biology and Certificate of Clinical Specialisation in Periodontics with distinction.

She was then awarded a scholarship and completed a clinical fellowship training programme at the Department of Periodontology and Fixed Prosthodontics, University of Berne, Switzerland.

Maria received her Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University College London Eastman Dental Institute for her innovative research on the effect of systemic diseases on dental implants and on bone regeneration. She is the recipient of the most prestigious international awards in dental implantology, namely the 2009 European Association of Osseointegration Research Award and the 2010 Andre Schroeder Research Prize.

Maria is actively involved in specialist clinical training at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and has published extensively in international journals. She is a regular speaker at national and international professional bodies and has served as referee for the Journal of Clinical Periodontology and the Clinical Oral Implants Research Journal.

Maria works as a specialist periodontist and implant surgeon based in central London since 2003. Her clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal and peri-implant diseases, performance of conventional and regenerative periodontal surgery with Guided Tissue Regeneration and enamel matrix proteins, periodontal and peri-implant plastic microsurgery including soft tissue grafting and aesthetic crown lengthening, surgical implant placement and ridge augmentation with bone grafting and sinus elevation techniques.
